The functions of the Division of Compulsory Tree Planting are as follows: to organize in working out greening and beautifying urban-and-rural program and annual plans; to organize in supervising greening and compulsory tree-planting activities; to coordinate in identifying the key projects on greening and beautifying Beijing, and to evaluate the achievements; to provide identification services for people who wish to claim a piece of land for planting trees or grass, or to take care of piece of land with greenery already in existence; to be responsible for the supervision and management of friendship forest, commemorative forest or trees; to set up the target-responsibility system for Beijing municipal government and district or county government; and to carry out evaluation and commending activities upon greening and beautifying projects.
